Our team here at Roger’s Plumbing and Heating would like to keep our customers advised and informed about their water or gas systems. We believe that if we help customers understand their plumbing, they will maximize the efficiency of their system, and potentially avoid any unnecessary or costly repairs through preventative maintenance. We post interesting news articles, as well as a monthly tip, to keep our customers not just happy, but informed. Roger's Newsletter - Winter 2010 Find our latest newsletter here. Please use this link to find our latest newsletter, Get the most from your water heater. Drain 2 gallons from your water heater drain valve every month to remove sediment that prevents heat transfer and lowers efficiency. Take showers, not baths. A five-minute shower uses about 10 gallons of water compared to a 15 -25 gallon bath. You can take two precautions that will help to make sure that lead and copper pipes aren't affecting your water. When you haven't used the water in a while--- like in the morning or when you come home from work--- the pipes need to be cleaned out. Let cold water run until you feel the temperature change. also never use hot water from the tap for cooking , drinking, or making baby formula. Use cold water and warm it on the stove.
